How is the IRCC CLB scale different from regular IELTS bands?+
CIC uses a different scale: CLB 7 = IELTS 6.0, CLB 8 = IELTS 6.5, CLB 9 = IELTS 7.0+, CLB 10 = IELTS 7.5+. For max language points in Express Entry, you want CLB 9 in all 4 skills.
I already took IELTS — should I retake?+
If you're at CLB 8 (6.5 across) and aiming for FSW Express Entry, retaking for CLB 9 is worth +24 points typically — the biggest single jump available. We help calculate if it's worth your time.
Do you cover IELTS General Reading (different from Academic)?+
Yes — exclusively. General Reading uses workplace texts, ads, and notices. Academic uses journal extracts. Wrong prep = wrong test.
What about provincial nominee programs (PNP)?+
Most PNPs accept the same IELTS General scores. Some (Saskatchewan, Manitoba) have stream-specific requirements — we cover those in the strategy session at start.
